REFLECTION

I took Instructional Design for Ed Tech in the Fall of 2020. This course allowed me to really think about how I want to introduce technology in the newsroom and better enable adult learners to engage with technology in the newsroom. I was able to really think about and come up with a plan about how I want to provide training to adults.

I created a training module called “Sorry, not sorry, but Instagram does matter.” This module was about learning how to effectively use Instagram in the Newsroom. I know it may seem basic for some digital natives, but it was not for most people in the newsroom. I can’t even begin to tell you the questions people would ask me about instagram. I was able to lay everything out. The hardest part about creating this project was not assuming and taking myself out of the digital native mindset. I had to think about how I could prove to multiple generations that this app is useful. I think I laid it out very well and I would definetly utilize this and send it to people as needed.

4b: Collaborate and co-learn with students to discover and use new digital resources and diagnose and troubleshoot technology issues.

5. Designer

Educators design authentic, learner-driven activities and environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability. Educators:

5a: Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.

5b: Design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use digital tools and resources to maximize active deep learning.

5c: Explore and apply instructional design principles to create innovative digital learning environments that engage and support learning.

6. Facilitator

Educators facilitate learning with technology to support student achievement of the ISTE Standards for Students. Educators:

6a: Foster a culture where students take ownership of their learning goals and outcomes in both independent and group settings.

6c: Create learning opportunities that challenge students to use a design process and computational thinking to innovate and solve problems.

6d: Model and nurture creativity and creative expression to communicate ideas, knowledge, or connections.

7. Analyst

Educators understand and use data to drive their instruction and support students in achieving their learning goals. Educators:
